Gippsland Dental Group offers a vast range of services for your convenience. We have everything from exam and teeth cleaning, to the more complex root canal treatment and crowns. Ask our friendly team for more information on any of the services offered.
- General examination
If you have any concerns about your oral health or any general dental enquiries, our dentists are here to help and can tailor a treatment plan specific to your needs.
A dental examination includes an assessment of your teeth, gums, bite and other oral tissues and where necessary may include radio-graphs (x-rays). The best way to maintain good oral health is to visit your dentist on a regular basis. It is recommended to have regular dental check-ups every 6 to 12 months to assess your oral health and identify any early signs of disease.
- Teeth Cleaning and Treatment of Gum Infections
After an examination with one of our dentists, you may be recommended to have some form of periodontal treatment. Some of the common signs of periodontal disease include red, swollen gums that bleed (gingivitis), gums that have shrunk from the tooth and loose teeth. Gippsland Dental Group can offer this service which may include cleaning and instructions on how to improve and maintain your oral health at home. In some cases, a referral may be given to a periodontist who will be able to assist you further with your dental needs.
GDG recommends having your teeth professionally cleaned every 6-12 months to assist you in keeping your teeth for life. This has the added benefit of having a healthy mouth that feels and looks good.
Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
- General, Cosmetic Dentistry and Tooth Replacement
Our dentists offer a wide range of tooth coloured and metallic restorative options. We are happy to discuss all options and develop a treatment plan to best suit your needs.
Crown, Bridges and Veneers
A crown is a “cap” that fits over your existing tooth. It may be needed to strengthen a tooth that has been weakened by decay or at risk of breaking due to cracks, previous large restorations or root canal treatment. Crowns can be made from a variety of materials including gold and porcelain. Our dentists can discuss the best option for you.
A bridge is a solution to replace one or more missing teeth. It consists of an artificial tooth permanently joined to the adjacent teeth of the gap.
Veneers are a cosmetic option to improve the appearance of your teeth. It involves the bonding of a thin layer of material, either porcelain or resin, to the surface of your tooth.
Implants
Another option for replacing missing teeth are dental implants. A dental implant is a metallic anchor placed in the jaw bone and can be used to support an artificial tooth, teeth and in some circumstances stabilize a full denture. They are an ideal option for some patients as, unlike traditional bridges, they do not require any preparation to the surrounding teeth.

Tooth Whitening
For those wanting a whiter and brighter smile, tooth whitening or bleaching may be the option for you. At GDG we provide custom fit bleach trays for you to use at your own convenience. Our dentists can assess your teeth to see if bleaching is suitable for you.
CEREC
CAD/CAM technology has made it way into the dental surgery. With CEREC our dentists can provide ceramic tooth coloured fillings, crowns and veneers in a single visit.
Dentures
Our dentists and prosthetist can provide both full and partial dentures. A consultation will help us decide the best denture for you. Besides new dentures, in most cases we are able to repair, reline and add or replace teeth on existing dentures.
- Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment (or endodontic treatment) may be an option to save a tooth that has been compromised due to decay, disease or trauma. The pulp is the part in the center of a tooth that contains the nerve. Signs of an inflamed pulp may include pain and sensitivity to hot and cold. A dead pulp may present as an infection or abscess. Our dentists can determine if root canal treatment is required for you. The aim of treatment is to remove all the inflamed and infected tissue from the root canal, then fill the canal to provide a seal to prevent further infection. This treatment usually occurs over several visits. Complex cases may require referral to an Endodontist (root canal specialist).

- Dental Extractions
Even though keeping your teeth is preferred, there are times that extraction is the best treatment option. Teeth may have to be removed for various reasons for example if a tooth is badly decayed, loose due to advanced gum disease or to make space for orthodontic reasons. Our dentists can assess your situation and recommend a suitable treatment plan. Our dentists are able to do most extractions, however, more complex cases such as impacted wisdom teeth may need to be referred to a specialist oral surgeon.
